Resources>BYFY
By Youth For Youth (BYFY), is a
committee of volunteer high school students from around Dane
County, that oversee the allocation of over $20,000 to student
youth programs and initiatives. These students have the
money and power to address issues important to today's youth.
The BYFY committee meets every Monday from
6pm-8pm throughout the school year. During that time, students
develop their priorities, send out a request for proposals, and
decide which programs they would like to fund. The money
that By Youth For Youth allocates goes directly to fund student
organized programs.
Tobacco-Free Dane County is proud to allocate funds to the By Youth For Youth committee so that they may address the important issue of tobacco use by Dane County youth. For the 2004-2005 school year, TFDCC allocated $1,000 for projects focusing on tobacco use. Recipients of TFDCC dollars included Badger Ridge Middle School Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU, Verona) and the Afrocentric Organization.
